Inthisfilm,theaward-winningITVExposurestrandgoesundercoverintoIrantomeetupwiththewomenchallengingthereligiousautocratswhohaveruledthecountryforfortyyears.Thehijabisthesymboloftheirauthority–andwomenwhoprotestagainstwearingitriskimprisonmentandtorture.InayearinwhichIranianshavetakentothestreetsinunprecedentedprotestsatcorruption,pooreconomicconditionsandstaterepression,womenhavebeenattheforefront. Thefilmfollowsthestoriesoffourwomen–Shima,Shaparak,MaryamandMasih.Allhavepaidahighpricefortheirdefiance,butallremainunbowed.Filmingundercover,weheartheirhopesandfears,andtheirdeterminationtofightforamodern,tolerantIran,freefromreligiousimposition.
